Creating Team-Specific Voter Registration Landing Pages
Updated over a week ago

Voter Registration on Impactive lets you set up a custom-branded voter registration check portal that you can share with your supporters to help them check their voter registration status, and take the first step to get registered to vote in their state if they aren't registered yet.

Incentivized voter registration campaigns, using referral links, are a great way to build buzz and friendly competition to get more voters to check their registration status. Team-based competition is yet another way to add a twist to a voter registration campaign.

How Teams Relate to Voter Registration

After setting up teams under Users > Teams in the admin dashboard, you can customize a team's version of the voter registration landing page (built upon the same voter registration action, to keep results tracking simple). Teams can then share their own team-specific referral URL to generate referrals, and individuals that generate referral links from that team URL will have their referrals credited to the team, too (in addition to themselves individually).

There are a number of ways to leverage this team-based results tracking and customization, including:

  • Set up a competition between public figures; for example, set up a team-specific version of a voter registration action for Kendrick Lamar, and another one for Drake. The celebrities can then promote their own team-specific links for the voter registration action, and compete on the leaderboard to see who can generate the most registration checks.

  • Set up a competition between organizing teams: empower teams of local organizers to compete against each other, whether via online organizing methods or when tabling at an in-person event. Again, they'll be using the same voter registration action (so all results are stored in the same place), but can generate team-specific versions of the landing page with results tracked to their team specifically.

Creating Team-Specific Voter Registration Landing Pages

Teams can create their own branded landing pages for voter registration actions - think of these team-specific pages as a "wrapper" around the voter registration action, because they're all built off of one central action.

While you could, of course, use multiple different voter registration actions for different teams/campaigns, we recommend using one action and creating team-specific landing pages for it. Using one action lets teams compete on one centralized leaderboard for the action, and also keeps all of your results/data in one place (one export) for your ease in taking any next steps with the contacts, like for a voter registration chase campaign.

Here's how to create team-specific landing pages for a voter registration action:

  1. Create a team, or more than one.

  2. Click on the team, then click Manage Team (under the team's name at the top of the page), then Customize Team Page.

  3. Customize desired settings; these settings will override the matching settings for the voter registration action, i.e. the page's title, description, background color, etc. You can edit any settings that you want to override for this specific team, and leave blank any that can stay the same as the action's settings.

  4. Save the customizations.

  5. Return to the team's page. In the middle of the page, you'll see a section of URLs to copy. Find the name of the voter registration action and copy the URL; that is the link to the team-specific landing page for the voter registration action.

    1. Teams can share this team-specific referral URL to generate referrals. Plus, any individuals that obtain their own referral link from that team URL will have their referrals credited to the team, too (in addition to themselves individually).

Note that team page customizations currently apply to ALL voter registration actions and form actions; team-specific customizations cannot be applied to just one voter reg/form and not others. Keep this in mind if teams are leveraging multiple team-specific URLs for different voter registration or form actions at once.
