Why aren't volunteers' personal contacts showing up in the Contacts tab?
Why aren't volunteers' personal contacts showing up in the Contacts tab?
Updated this week

The term "Contacts" as used throughout the admin dashboard in Impactive refers to people uploaded by administrators to be contacted through actions like Peer-to-Peer Texting, Broadcast Texting, Phone Banking, etc. It does not refer to volunteers' personal contacts in the context of Friends and Family Messaging.

Volunteers' synced personal contacts (sometimes called "UserContacts" throughout Impactive) are not automatically accessible to campaign administrators, for privacy reasons: volunteers don't necessarily want their entire personal contact list, and all of the data therein, to be shared with campaign administrators. There are only two ways that volunteers' personal contact data can be shared with campaign administrators:

  • If volunteers send a message to one of their personal contacts, the data on that contact and the message sent is exportable by administrators

  • If volunteers fill a report on one of their personal contacts, the data on that contact and the report shared is exportable by administrators

Accordingly, data on volunteers' synced personal contacts is only accessible to administrators via exports of messages or reports (tags and custom fields) as a result of either Friends and Family Messaging actions, or the Open Canvassing/Added Reports action. Find out more about different export types here.
