FAQ: Login - How to login to Impactive as a volunteer

Overview

The following article includes instructions on how login into the Impactive volunteer app so you can hit the ground running.

The volunteer app is available on mobile and web (desktop) devices. We encourage you to use the mobile app as it includes access to all Impactive volunteer functionality; however, if you choose to use the web app, the volunteer experience is similarly effective, but does not include the ability to send friend-to-friend text messages.

How do I login into Impactive?

You can log in using our passwordless login method on the mobile app or web app. Here are instructions for each below.

Mobile

  1. Download the Impactive app from the App Store or the Google Play Store

  2. Open the app

  3. Choose your language

  4. Enter campaign join code under "Join a campaign". If you don't have one, browse campaigns by clicking "Search for a campaign"*

  5. Setup your Impactive account by adding your name, phone number and zip code

  6. Login using the "Sign-in with Email" link

  7. You will receive an email with a sign-in link; open it

  8. Click "sign-in with email"; you will be redirected to the Impactive app and signed in without a password.

*If you are an existing Impactive user, you can simply navigate to "sign-in"

Web (Desktop)

  1. Visit app.impactive.io

  2. Go to "sign-in with email" and enter your Impactive email; click "continue"

  3. You will receive an email with a sign-in link; open it

  4. Click "sign-in with email"; you will be redirected to the web app page and signed in without a password.

  5. Optional: if you have a campaign join code, visit "Explore" and enter your join code in the "join with campaign code" window to join the campaign

What if I prefer to login with a password?

Although it's not recommended for security and efficiency, if you prefer to you use a password you can still create a password login with some additional setup by "resetting" your password on Impactive in order to log in.

Mobile

  1. Open Impactive

  2. Select a language. Click "next"

  3. You'll see a screen that says "Join a campaign". Do not enter a campaign code. Instead, click "Sign in".

  4. You'll see a screen that says "Let's get your paperwork in order". Do not enter your email. Instead, click on "Or login using your password".

  5. You'll see a screen that says "Sign up using your email". Do not enter your email or password. Instead, click on "Reset password".

  6. You'll see a screen that says "Enter your email to reset your password". Enter your email here and click "reset".

  7. Impactive will send a confirmation code to your email address. Leave Impactive and visit your email. Open the confirmation code email and copy the code.

  8. Go back to the Impactive app, and input and submit your confirmation code.

  9. Now login using the "Or login using your password" prompt. Input your email and your newly created password.

Click continue and this should sign you into Impactive!

Web (Desktop)

  1. You can reset your password in order to login on desktop using the following link: https://app.impactive.io/auth/forgot-password.

  2. Follow the reset flow

  3. Go back to app.impactive.io and click "sign-in with password"

  4. Sign-in with your new credentials in order to login

When I use the magic link (passwordless) sign-in method on mobile, it doesn't seem to take me to the mobile app, instead it takes me to my browser? How do I login to the app?

We've seen that certain iOS devices do not sign-in users to the mobile app. In this case, we recommend the following troubleshooting steps:

  • If you want to resolve the issue in the fastest way possible, simply sign in with a password using the steps outlined above under "What if I prefer to login with a password?"

OR

  • Consider "hard-closing" the app, restarting Impactive, and try signing in with email again.

  • If the above doesn't work, consider restarting your device, and try signing in with email again.

  • If the above doesn't work, consider deleting the app, reinstalling Impactive and try signing in with email again.

I'm having trouble logging in through email.

  • Similar to the above, if you're having issue logging in with email, simply sign in with a password using the steps outlined above under "What if I prefer to login with a password?"

OR

  • Consider "hard-closing" the app, restarting Impactive, and try signing in with email again.

  • If the above doesn't work, consider restarting your device, and try signing in with email again.

  • If the above doesn't work, consider deleting the app, reinstalling Impactive and try signing in with email again.

I'm locked out, what now?

This is to protect your account after too many failed attempts to login. You can try again in 1 hour.

If you continue to have issues logging in, please visit https://www.whatsmybrowser.org and copy the link on the homepage. Paste this link in an email and send it to [email protected] so that Impactive has device/browser details to resolve your issue.
