Teams: Frequently Asked Questions

We're excited to launch the Teams function in Impactive!

The Teams feature allows volunteers and supporters to self-organize into teams based on region, geographic location, affinity group, or issue focus. The goal of Teams is to empower leaders and organizers to build power within their communities, and expand the reach of their organizing work on Impactive.

Here is a tutorial video walking through the volunteer side of Teams:

Here's how it works:

- Teams are associated with individual users, not campaigns.

- Each team earns points when any of its members take an action for any campaign that member belongs to. That action counts towards that team’s total points, and the team’s total points for that campaign.

- This is why campaigns have team leaderboards - its a ranking of total points count a team’s members have collectively accrued for that campaign.

- When viewing a team’s page, there is a dropdown list of every campaign at least one of that team’s members belongs to.

- Selecting the dropdown filters all the stats for that team for the selected campaign. (Selecting “All Campaigns” just shows the team’s stats for all campaigns its members belong to).

Every volunteer and administrator on Impactive by default has a team that is called "Your Name's Team". You can change the name of your team in the Settings page on the Impactive app. As staff, you can create a number of staff-led Teams that might align with geographic regions, affinity or identity groups, or issue focus. For example, the Fremont Neighborhood for Selina Meyer Team, led by Reese Dempsey in the demo video above, is a geographically organized team that Reese leads, and whose team members Reese has gotten credit for recruiting.

You can edit the Team Name here:

Once your volunteers and staff have created teams either organically or as a part of your organizing strategy, you can begin to invite other new volunteers into the teams, and build camaraderie and competition between teams.

Use the 6 digit code to invite others to join your team:
