Friend to friend messaging amplifies the impact of each volunteer. With Impactive, users and volunteers can easily sync their phone contacts with the national voter file and confirm if friends are:
- Registered to vote
- Affiliated with a political party
- Live in a swing district, and/or
- Showing up for elections
Once users get started and join your campaign, encourage them to remind friends to vote, and invite their contacts to join your campaign through multiple contact methods including phone, email, text, and social media.
Unlike Peer-to-Peer texting, all Friend to Friend messages are sent to existing personal contacts from the user's own phone number, email or social media accounts - leading to higher response rates at no additional cost to the campaign.
After clicking into a Friend to Friend action on Impactive's home feed, users will be prompted to get started.
Choose how you want to contact your friends and family: either through a phone call, text, email, or social message.
From here, you can select recipients based on your synchronized contacts in Impactive. The app automatically filters the list by contact method.
For phone calls and texting: the app will filter a user's phone for contacts with phone numbers.
For emails: the app will filter a user's phone for contacts with email addresses.
Volunteers can proceed to send call, text, or email a contact using their phone's native phone call, text messaging, and email features.
For social messages: the app will include share links to Facebook or Twitter, or allow you to copy and send the message through your phone.
Select your contacts, and proceed to the next screen.
Use the templated script for your message to your friends and family, or edit it to personalize it to your liking.

Once sent, the process can be repeated over and over again. All messages will be sent from a user’s personal number, email or social media account. All connected contacts live on the user’s phone, so their numbers will never be shared with campaigns, volunteers, or political parties.
Friend-to-friend texts sent from Impactive will always come through to a user's phone natively:
We recommend providing volunteers with one initial message to get started, and then a few follow up templates based on how a friend responds. Staff and supporters can always customize the scripts you write, which allows them to personalize their outreach.
In your profile, you can see how many times you have sent messages. You can earn new badges and recognition for sending texts in Impactive. You also can see who of your friends or contacts are super users, and where you stack up for a little competitive fun.
The biggest difference between friend-to-friend texting nd peer-to-peer texting: friends text from their own numbers! Campaigns will pay to mask your number in peer-to-peer texting, so registered voters will not be able to return your text directly.
