Importing User Assignments for Contacts

Updated over a week ago

Impactive is built to promote long-term relationships between users (volunteers/organizers/staff) and contacts. Two of our key tools - peer-to-peer texting and assigned list canvassing - rely on user assignments to maintain a sticky relationship between a given user and a given contact. This means that a contact can receive ongoing messages from the same person, building a long-term relationship that results in higher trust and better outcomes (for GOTV, ladder of engagement, etc.).

One key way that administrators can designate user <> contact relationships from the start is by importing user assignments alongside your contact data.

In addition to the other required contact import column headers (see here), you can use the column header assigned_user_email to upload a user's email address for each contact - the user belonging to that email address will then be assigned to that contact. Note that this import can be performed the first time that contacts are imported, or as a subsequent update to existing contacts later on (more info here on how to update existing contact data).

In order to maintain these user assignments in a new peer-to-peer texting or assigned list canvassing action, simply toggle ON the Keep Users' Contact Assignments toggle when setting up either type of action. If that toggle is ON, users who participate in the action will only message/report on the specific contacts assigned to them. (These can be the assignments imported via the process above, or the assignments created for the first time via a previous action.)
